LambEx Coles Trailblazers competition

“We’re looking for young people with a sheep-hot idea and who want to stand out from the flock”


LambEx, in partnership with Coles, launches today an exciting competition for young innovators in the sheep and lamb industry.


LambEx 2024, the pinnacle event for the Australian lamb industry, will be attended by over 1,200 industry members from across the country in Adelaide (7-9 August 2024). LambEx Chair Jason Schulz said ‘LambEx is distinctive in the fact that it is the only industry forum that incorporates and encompasses the entire supply chain for the sheep and lamb industry. And we are particularly keen to foster innovative new talent within the industry and thanks to the support of Coles, the Trailblazers competition which is launched today, will achieve that aim.’


The LambEx Coles Trailblazers competition recognises and encourages young and upcoming industry professionals, producers, scientists and students to consider a future or ongoing career in the Australian lamb industry. The competition enables these young Trailblazers to demonstrate how they as innovators will make a difference in the lamb industry.

Successful finalists have the opportunity to make their mark on industry at LambEx 2024 and hone their skills through professional development and networking with industry contacts. Semi-finalists receive free registration, and support for travel and accommodation at LambEx. They will be required to ‘pitch’ their innovative idea to an experienced panel and the finalists will then pitch to the full conference attendees at the conference dinner on the final night.


Competition summary

  • Competition opens on Wed 21 Feb at 12 noon (AEST) and closes on Thur 25 April at midnight (AEST)

  • Entrants must be aged between 16 – 30 years of age

  • Entrants must be able to attend LambEx 2024 (7 – 9 Aug 2024 in Adelaide) and to participate in the professional development program
